Many thanks for all Rotarians & their families and the boys from CBC Fremantle who took part in this project.

Many thanks go to Bob Coventry, Coordinator of Fremantle & Fremantle Port Rotary Clubs & the Cockburn Rotary Club for their combined assistance in this project.

Special thanks go to Acton and their staff for funding the advertising program and assisting with the letter drop.

All together we collected about 2,000 bags @ $16 each with a monetary value of $32,000.

Beneficiaries are Fremantle Women’s Refuge, Melville Women’s Refuge, the Uniting Church Melville and food collection for country farmers.

Mal Bennett spoke about this year’s Rotary Ramble on the weekend of August 24 / 25

that will take in Pinjarra, Harvey and the Ferguson Valley.  Mal outlined the accommodation available.  There are a limited number of cabins available so he stressed that if couples arranged to share it would help accommodate more of us.  There are also two storey apartment units with spiral stairs and the bedrooms upstairs and toilets and bathrooms downstairs.  Full details with costs are included in the attachment “Rotary Ramble 2013”.  Please give this your early attention and contact Mal who will give you phone numbers for booking etc.

Please note that it’s first in, first served!

The weekend sounds fantastic with morning teas, lunches, walks around the lake, log fires, Christmas in August, buffet breakfast, breweries, winery lunch and (drum roll!!!) Gnomesville.

The Door Prize was won by Patricia Robertson and Nick O’dorisio won the Joker draw but couldn’t find the Lucky Joker to claim the jackpot that is now worth over $1000.

Sergeant, Ian Pittaway, conducted an entertaining fines session.

Mal Bennett introduced Eric and outlined his impressive CV.  Eric gave an overview of the many developments happening in and around Perth and their billion dollar budgets.  He then went into more detail on the Victoria Quay development, its history, early proposals, the final plan and how it will impact on Perth city.  For more information visit the MRA site.

MOVIE EVENT

SUNDAY   JUNE 9   10.30am

CYGNET THEATRE

Dear Rotarians

The Great Gatsby movie which I have booked for the 9th June is a new release which is being released into cinemas about May 30th.

I will be giving each member an envelope with 6 tickets to sell.  The cost is $15 per ticket. Each member will have a number allocated to them and on each of the tickets in your envelope will have that number allocated.

There will be a draw from all the tickets sold for a CD of classical music.  The more tickets a member sells the more chances they have of winning.

Please support this event even if you are not able to attend yourself by promoting and encouraging family and friends to attend.

If you require more than 6 tickets please let me know.

Thanks for your support.

Gillian
