Conference

John invited members to attend the conference being held in Bunbury from18th to 20th of March 2016.

Scatter Meetings

Marielle Sloss the President of Como RC told us that her club learnt about these at the President Elect's Training and is a way of helping Melodie Kevan fulfill her role as DG.

Instead of attending their own club meeting all the member choose another club to visit.

This results in

·      everyone experiencing what it is like to be a visitor and how different clubs welcome visitors

·      being able to pick up ideas on how to run a meeting

·      seeing what projects other clubs are working on

·      getting to know more people

·      learning about grant applications

WORK READY SEMINAR

Thank you Jeff for organising this event for about 200, Year 10 students from Melville Senior High School.

It is a great opportunity for the students to find out about career paths they may take, learn what qualities would be required and to witness and practise interview techniques.

Thank you to the Rotarians and friends that came to help.  Unfortunately there were not many Rotarians which made working with the students in small groups difficult.

Monday, December 15th, 2015    SPECIAL CHRISTMAS MEETING

George Lewkowski welcomed everyone and gave Carole's apologies saying that David was very unwell and Carole was looking after him.  We wish David well.

George welcomed Ron Stobie from the Salvation Army, Amanda ,our presenter at the Work Ready Seminar, special guest Garth Curran and our newest honorary members Alan Morecombe and Don Rodgers and Nikki and Rosemary.

Jolly Good Fellow!

Colin presented Max with a party cake thanking him for volunteering so willingly and doing such a wonderful job doing the bulletin notes in Gail's absence.  Colin noted that Max had been the bulletin editor for ten years and what a wonderful contribution that was to the Club.

Everyone joined in a rousing rendition of "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow"

In his report Colin made absolutely no mention of the rumour that Bob Rodgers had been away with the fairies for part of his shift.

Sausage Sizzle Breaks Club Record!!

Colin thanked all of the volunteers who assisted with the last two Bunnings sausage sizzles and particularly past members Trevor Leaver, Brian Wall and Alan Morcombe.

He announced that we had a record breaking day on December 12.  We sold 916 sausages and 882 buns.  We put on specials with two sausages in one bun for $4.00 and a sausage on a stick (skewer) for $2.00.  Though it wasn't really hot we sold 299 drinks.  We made a record profit of $2,006.30 but took the $72.50 costs for the Mr. Mustang SS out and banked $1,933.80.  This included record donations of $103.30.

Jim thanked George and Anne for donating a bottle of red and white for each table.

He wished Tom Slater a very happy birthday.

John encouraged all Rotarians and partners to attend the District Conference in Mandurah next year on March 18, 19 and 20th.

Jeff thanked Janine and Amanda for their very professional presentation of the Work Ready Seminar last week and presented Amanda with an Attadale RC coaster.  Unfortunately Janine could not attend.

Local Boy works Magic!

Ian introduced local boy Sam Parrish who at just 14 years of age is a seasoned performer in his chosen profession as a magician.  Sam amazed us with his illusions and showed great confidence, maturity and showmanship.  He held the appreciative audience spellbound and later did illusions at each table.  Sam actively supports the Starlight Foundation and on behalf of our Club, Ian presented Sam with a cheque for $250 to donate to that worthy cause.

We all wish this remarkable young man great success in his quest to become a renowned magician.

Honorary Members Recognized

George and John presented badges to our latest honorary members and thanked Don and Alan for their long and valued service to the Club and the community.

Peter could not attend as he is caring for Ann full time.

Paul Harris Fellows

Enthusiastic applause greeted George's announcement that Colin and Gail McCulloch were being awarded Paul Harris Fellowships.

George said that they were both very worthy recipients for all of the work they do for the Club.

He recognized their contribution as bulletin editors, secretary, sausage sizzle managers and for volunteering and participating in all Club activities.  The countless hours they devote to improving our Club is really appreciated.

2015 CHRISTMAS PARTY

Some of the happy group enjoying the delicious food, fantastic entertainment and great fellowship.

Thank you to everyone who donated things for the Salvation Army to distribute to those in need.

Thank you Elaine and Mal for decorating the tables so beautifully.

Thank you to Anne and George for providing the wine.

Thank you Jacquie and Ian for finding Sam the Magician who was amazing.

Second Headwest Sausage Sizzle

Colin and Gail enjoyed helping the delightful staff from Headwest run another Sausage Sizzle on Friday January 18th.

Unfortunately Friday's are not as busy as the weekends but we sold 313 SSs and 99 drinks for a profit of $654.46.  We presented $350 to Headwest and banked $304.46 for our charity account.

The staff were very appreciative of the help from Attadale RC and we look forward to helping them again next year.  Hopefully they will be able to get weekend dates which are more profitable.
