Fire Safety in the Home

This should be a fantastic night and a good reminder of dangers we take for granted at home.
I do have to issue a word of caution however – If there is a major fire/emergency locally next Monday, we have to take second place
…as you will understand
So be ready to be a volunteer speaker…at very short notice.
Another good meeting last night with President John and (soon to depart Sergeant Patricia to the ‘warmer’ climes of Bonny Scotland).
Guess we will have to brush up on our language receptor skills by the time she gets back.
Chair for the night Gillian did a real top job in introducing our guest speaker Sherl Westland from Diabetes Research Western Australia.
Sherl gave an excellent presentation. Hard to believe 280 people develop Diabetes every day in Australia and one person dies every 6 seconds from diabetes here as well.
Sherl also showed us the fantastic developments that have occurred from diabetes research over the years. Too many great facts to list here. A well researched and developed presentation.
(Apologies - Don’t have a photo to print of Sherl. Without McCullochs and Jeff Spickett we are pretty slack in this department).
Another general reminder folks:
Please remember, if no apology to Greg in time, you will have to pay for the meal you didn’t eat (and we don’t home deliver).
So expect an invoice from the Treasurer.
Greg’s contact details are: 0435 305 199 or email@example.com
Carole gave us a good run down on next week’s visitors meeting. If you see a new face please include them in your conversations. We need to make everyone feel especially welcome.
Chase the Joker was won by Martin, but no money. Ian won the door prize and definitely didn’t give the wine back!
Jim had more Shoe Box Kits available for members.
A great, simple and easy thing to do.
Kits need to be returned by 12th September at latest, but you can bring them in as soon as you like. That helps Jim and Jenny as well.
George gave more details for the combined Social Night & Fundraiser.
