ROTARY SPECIAL MONTHS:    AUGUST IS MEMBERSHIP AND NEW CLUB DEVELOPMENT

 

 

Monday, August 22nd

 

President John welcomed all members and partners to the meeting especially our guests

Jean and Peter MacKenzie, Marilyn Garbin, James Doogue and Tony Stanbridge.

 

We hope that all of our guests enjoyed the evening and know that they would be warmly welcomed to attend any future meetings.

 

President John announced that due to health and family reasons Bruce Robinson

has applied for leave of absence and has resigned as Community Services Director.

He asked that we continue to maintain regular contact particularly through Family of Rotary and that we wish him a speedy recovery and expressed our gratitude for his great work over many years.

We will miss his caring, compassion, thoughtfulness, dedication and willingness to help everyone.

 

John also reported on the following:-

·     The Club and Charity Budget had been approved.

·     Microscopes for Our Lady of Fatima School had been approved.

·     Application for a Global Grant for Ethiopia, Africa is progressing.

·     Enquiry for Lotterywest Grant is progressing.

·     No RCA meeting on Monday 31st October.  Instead members would attend the Welcome Dinner for the Rotary Vocational Training Team from Sri Lanka on Wednesday 2nd November at Tompkins on Swan. starting at 7.00pm, $25 pp with a cash bar.

·     list of what is required to Set Up and Pack Up will be in the box.

 

Entertainment Books

Martin still has Entertainment Books for sale at $65 each.  The club receives $13 for each book sold so please help Martin in this fund raising venture.

Guest Speaker

Mick introduced our guest speakers from Murdoch Fire Station:-

Station Officer Tim Gifford and

Senior Fire Officers Brad Renton, Barney Ainsworth and Brian Hosking.

The talk by Tim was very informative and encouraged everyone to be aware of fire safety in our homes.

A excellent booklet was given out detailing twelve areas in our homes that need to be checked to promote fire safety.

Great Combined Social and Fund Raiser Evening

A big thank you to George  and Anne for organising the dinner at Divine Indian Restaurant last Wednesday evening.  The large number of people who came enjoyed a great night of fellowship as well as lots of delicious food and wine to taste.

For those who still wish to order the wine they enjoyed, please contact George by Monday.

 

Coffee and Cakes

Thank you to Colin for providing delicious Banana Cake and Albran Loaf to enjoy with coffee.

 

Love in a Shoebox

Jim reminded members to collect their boxes.  The final collection date is the 12th September.

 

Door Prize

Was won by John and Winston won the raffle but could not find the joker.

 

 

 

 

 

Thank You Presentation

 

Colin thanked Jacquie and Ian for producing the Bulletin for three months while Colin and Gail were away.

Also to Jacquie for mastering Face book and putting RCA there for all to see  

and for Ian, "Mr. Fill In", who has taken on many roles for people who are away.

How lucky are we to have such true Rotarians in our club!

Please DO NOT send text messages to 0435 305 199 as they do not transfer from the Club phone to the Attendance Officer's phone.

Unless Greg receives an apology by 10.00am on the day of the meeting the meal will need to be charged to you, and the procedure to recover costs for non apology will be:

 

a) Attendance officer to report to Treasurer at end of each meeting names of those who didn’t show and didn’t apologise

b) Treasurer to submit all Attendance Officer reports to monthly Board meeting to authorise recovery – valid excuses accepted

c) Treasurer to issue invoices to members monthly following Board meeting based on b).
